Families: This is just a reminder that this weekend is a 4-day weekend for students. Staff will have a PL Day on Monday, and we are off for Veterans' Day on Tuesday. We will see everyone back at school next Wednesday, November 12th!
Tomorrow is our annual Possum Palooza Craft & Vendor Fair from 10 am - 3 pm in the Buffalo Middle School gym! We'll have 30 vendors and food trucks on site. Last week, students were given a sheet about Save Around coupon books for a school fundraiser. For every 5 books a student sells, they get 1 book free. The attached form explains how to sell books online, or the student can use the attached form to sell with cash or check. Our next sports season is about to start. Girls' basketball tryouts are tonight and tomorrow night from 6-8 pm. Families interested in wrestling will need to attend a parent meeting tomorrow at 6:30 pm in the SVHS commons area. We will also have a student sign-up sheet for wrestling in the media center. The first wrestling practice will be next Monday, November 10th at 5:30 pm in the SVHS wrestling room. Our eighth grade students have started the Read to Me Program - they go to Buffalo PreK on Wednesdays and Buffalo Elementary on Fridays to read to the students. We cannot wait to see how this program expands. We have received excellent feedback so far!!
Last Friday, we had our latest "Strive for 5" drawing winners!! Students who were present and on time all 5 days were entered into a prize drawing. Winners got a certificate and some treats!! Congrats to our winners: Ayden Adams, Paislee Bailey, Nathan Coy, Kyndalynn Duty, Korben Marshall, Luke Mathis, Colt Maynard, Taylin Meade, Scarlett Sager, and Cameron Smith.

Tomorrow is make-up picture day and the due date for Beta permission slips and $10 for the convention next week!
Last week, our students participated in the Annual BMS College Cup Competition. Homerooms could earn points by participating in the daily spirit week themes, decorating their classroom door to reflect a college campus in WV, and completing college/career themed activities such as a college vocabulary word match, school scavenger hunt, college logo match, college bingo, and career family tree. One homeroom from each grade level won the prize of double intramurals. We had a great week full of fun and learning! Thanks to all for the participation. @CFWV #CollegeBoundWV
Just a reminder about our Halloween celebration on Friday. Students can pay $2 to wear a school-appropriate costume. We will have a costume competition as well as trick or treating that day. During the month of October, our Student Leadership Council sponsored a Food Drive through the Facing Hunger Food Bank. Between donation events at our football and volleyball games and our homeroom donation contest, Buffalo Middle School collected 555 items to donate!! Also, Mrs. Vanzandt's homeroom won our donation contest and will receive a breakfast party!! Thank you to all of our Buffalo community for your continued support!!

We are so thankful for parent and community volunteers who helped provide breakfast and lunch for our Career Day volunteers today! Metro Community Federal Credit Union brought a gorgeous Chick-fil-A spread, and our parent volunteers, Allie Brewer & Prissy Bailey, provided a huge breakfast.
