Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5-9 this year. I sent out an email and Schoology message to all parents/guardians on Monday with details on how you can help! Please respond back to these messages, or you can call the school and ask to speak with the school counselor if you can help!!
Please join us for our Spring Band Concert on May 5th at Spring Valley High School. Students need to arrive by 6:45 pm, and the concert starts at 7:30 pm.
When your child is going somewhere other than home, we need to know the street it is located on. We have to write the address on the bus note, so the driver knows where the student is to be dropped off. Please notify the office of any changes to your child's after school plan by 1:30 pm.
This week I will be meeting with all the 8th grade students and reviewing their high school schedules for next year. Once I meet with them, they will bring a copy of this paper home to review with their families. Please look it over, sign, and return to school as soon as possible. The attached letter details information about the PEP Plan, and a copy of this letter will be sent home attached to your student's plan as well. If you have any questions, please contact the school counselor.
Our next incentive reward trip is scheduled for May 7th to Charleston, WV for the Dirty Birds Baseball Game. I have attached the qualifications as a reminder. Students have until next Monday, the 28th, to turn in any outstanding parent and/or doctor notes for this six weeks, which started on March 7th.

Spring Valley Dance Team Try-Outs
Congratulations to our students who are off campus at events today. We have 4 students competing in Charleston at the State Social Studies Fair, and 7 students participating in All-Area Band.
We are so proud to share that our band earned a Superior rating at the Ratings festival yesterday! This is the highest overall rating a band can receive, and it reflects the hard work, dedication, and musical growth our students have shown all year long.
Our annual Hoops for Heart activity is tomorrow. Students can bring $3 to watch, $1 for the half court competition, and money for concessions. This will be an all-morning event. Tomorrow is also an early release day with dismissal beginning at 12:30 pm.
Congratulations to our students who have been selected for the Huntington Museum of Art Portfolio Exhibition and the Arts Alive event. All students will be coming home with letters detailing the information for these events. We also want to thank Mr. Decker for his support of students and the work taken to enter students into these art shows!
REMINDER: Bogg Bag orders are due TOMORROW! They come in light grey or black with the Bison logo for $40 each. We have included a picture for size reference only - the grey for our order is lighter than the grey displayed in the pictures. This is a fundraiser for our school! Money can be submitted using cash or checks.
SULLEY COLLINS - 8th Grade March Student of the Month - Sulley has a great personality and is always ready to lend a helping hand. He is an influential leader among his peers. He has a very kind heart and truly cares about others.
ROXY HIGNUTT - 8th Grade March Student of the Month - Roxy does her best in everything she attempts. She is not afraid to ask questions and is very personable.
JACE HAGER - 7th Grade March Student of the Month - Jace is a model student who comes to class prepared and ready to work. He participates in various clubs and sports within his school. He is always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs it.
EMELIA HARRIS - 7th Grade March Student of the Month - She is dedicated and hard-working. She is excellent at collaborating with peers and working with teams. She participates and excels in extracurricular activities within her community.
SHELBY SMITH - 6th Grade March Student of the Month - Shelby shows us daily that she strives for success. Regardless of the subject or task, she is ready to put in the effort.
CASE LOVEJOY - 6th Grade March Student of the Month - Case demonstrates leadership in all areas and sets positive examples for his peers. He is the kid who can make anyone smile.
Special Olympics Track and Field - if your student plans to participate with Special Olympics (athlete OR hugger), please send $10 for t-shirts ASAP! Permission slips will be coming home at a later time. The event is taking place on April 23rd.
We have a busy week ahead, followed by Spring Break next week! Don't forget that Bogg Bag orders are due Thursday, and Hoops for Heart is on Friday along with an early release at 12:30 pm.
