Also, we will be practicing for 8th grade promotion tomorrow afternoon, so please make sure your eighth-grade students are at school if possible!

Our fax machine is currently down - if you have tried to have any doctor notes or anything else faxed to us today, please either email it to Lnshaw@k12.wv.us or send a copy to the school.

Next Monday is our last incentive reward trip. We will be going to Spare Time Recreation in Ironton, OH. Please see attached graphics for more information on the trip and qualifications to attend. Students must also bring a signed permission slip back to school by FRIDAY! If students have any outstanding parent and/or doctor notes, these must be submitted by Friday as well.

Send your 8th grader off to high school with a smile by purchasing a personalized Graduation Hat-Shaped Locker Gram - a fun, heartfelt way to say, "I'm proud of you!" All proceeds will go towards the middle school band program. You can complete this by stopping by the main office, speaking with Mr. Anderson, or completing the online form. If you complete the online form, you will need to send your money to the office. https://forms.office.com/r/7F1mPr1wzr

This week, Mrs. Hensley, Ms. Davis, & Mrs. Dean visited all three feeder elementary schools to discuss middle school with the fifth-grade students. They were all given a handout with important information, including upcoming dates for the fall as well as information about sports conditioning over the summer. All students interested in sports were also given a sports physical. Before participating in any sporting event, students must have an updated physical dated 5/1/25 or later. If anyone has questions about the information presented, they can call the school or email Mrs. Hensley at Lnshaw@k12.wv.us.

Please see attached graphic with important dates and times for the end of the school year!

We have some paperwork from the county coming home with students today. I have attached pictures of this information! One is a letter from the superintendent with a health update. The other is a pamphlet with important information for families. Please ask your students for these when they get home.

8th Grade Families: Just a reminder that Sunday is the last day to order 8th grade shirts! Shirts will hopefully be passed out on Friday, May 23rd. Follow the link to order and contact Mrs. Aldridge with any questions. https://buffalomiddleclassof2029.itemorder.com/

We have had a successful week of testing so far! Tomorrow is our last day, and 8th graders will be taking the Science test. If your child has missed any days this week, please try to get them to school tomorrow or Monday to make up their tests.

On Monday, we had our Amazing Race Raffle Celebration. Teachers were treated to prizes throughout the day, including items, gift cards, and gift certificates that were donated by school admin, student families, the community, and our own students. We were blessed to be able to give each teacher at least 1 gift. At the end of the day, we held a "Big Prize" raffle for those who participated in the Amazing Race activities. We had 3 Grand Prize winners along with 4 others. Thank you again to everyone who helped pull our Teacher Appreciation Week off! We are so thankful for all who support our staff, students, and school, and we hope our teachers felt all the appreciation!!

Families: the county has made us aware that testing scores for the writing portion of the state test may not immediately show up on the portal. These scores can take up to 10 business days to show up.

We will begin state testing tomorrow. Please make sure your students get good sleep and come to school on time the rest of this week! We are excited to see all that students have learned this year!

We want to thank everyone who donated their time, money, and/or resources last week to make our Teacher Appreciation Amazing Race event a success! Please know how much we appreciate all the assistance in pulling this event off! We held our prize raffles today - every staff member received a small prize, and we had 8 big prize winners!

Today was our "Student Sprint" leg of the Amazing Race! Students volunteered their time to thank teachers during breakfast, helped decorate the conference room with thank you notes and candy, and then led the Four Seasons Spa during lunch rotations. Thanks to Patsy Adkins and Sonic for bringing our staff drinks, and thanks to Buffalo Playmates for providing Rocky Tops pizza for lunch!

This afternoon, our teachers were provided with lunch thanks to the Chick-fil-A in the Huntington Mall food court and Lavalette Giovanni's. We also had the Kenova Mayor, Mr. Tim Bias, present to thank our staff for all they do! The Neighborly Navigator portion of our Amazing Race is complete, but we still have another day tomorrow!

Buffalo Middle wants to extend its thanks to American Legion Post 93 of Ceredo-Kenova and McDonald's of Kenova for providing breakfast for our staff this morning! Also, we were visited by Delegate Ryan Browning and Prosecuting Attorney Richard Thompson, who helped thank our teachers for all they do! It's been a great morning so far!

The students enjoyed a gorgeous day in Charleston at the Dirty Birds Game for our fifth six weeks incentive reward trip! I will post more pictures in an album on Schoology.
