We will be using a flex day on May 8th from 5pm-7pm at the Middle School gym. You will need to wear appropriate cheer clothing and shoes. There will be an informative parent meeting immediately following at 7pm. Information about upcoming June conditioning, August tryouts, and fall competition will be given at this meeting. 8th Graders - There are 25 Wayne County Pledge Scholarships up for grabs, and the application window is open! The Wayne County Pledge is a $1,000 scholarship that can be used for post-secondary education or training. The deadline to apply is May 15th at 11:59 p.m.



Our RAZE Crew hosted the "Donut Be Fooled" event this morning. Students learned about the dangers of vaping and the manipulative marketing of the tobacco industry. #RazeWV #tobaccofree #takedowntobacco









We participated again this year in the WV Attorney General's Kids Kick Opioids PSA Contest. We made about 40 submissions to the state contest, but we also ran a schoolwide contest. The pictures attached are our top 3 winners: Junie McFann, Everleigh Leonard, and Emily Smith.




Just a reminder that Parent-Teacher Conferences are tonight from 4-6 pm. While you're here, stop by the counselor's office to write a note of encouragement for your student that I will deliver the week of state testing!



If your student is absent, please call or email the school to let us know why. Also, if you are going to call to give your student a bus note, please do that before 1:30 pm.

This week students completed their final round of Discover Your Future career lessons! Next month, they will review all they have learned with a wrap-up module. The students have seemed to really enjoy this hands-on learning! Check Facebook for more pictures! #DiscoverYourFuture





WVDE Learning Survey - Your child will be bringing home a Passive Permission Slip to participate in the survey. If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please send this form back by March 20, 2023. The link for the Parent Survey will come through Schoology.


Reminder: Tomorrow night is the NJHS induction. Ceremony starts at 6:30 pm. Students participating must be at school no later than 6:15 pm.


We are please to share with you that our counselor, Lauren Hensley, received the award for WV Middle School Counselor of the Year! Those of us who work with her were not surprised in the least!!! She is absolutely the BEST! Our kids are so fortunate to have her!❤️❤️

CALEB MARCUM - 8th Grade Feb. 2023 Student of the Month -- Caleb is helpful to his teachers and classmates; he is engaged in class and does well on his work. He is pleasant and brings a laugh to the class.


ADDI SUE BAILEY - 8th Grade Feb. 2023 Student of the Month -- She is always joyful, she is consistently smiling and upbeat. She participates in every class, is conscientious of her schoolwork and kind to her classmates.


BRODY WOLFE - 7th Grade Feb. 2023 Student of the Month -- He is such a good student. It is also fun to have a conversation with Brody. He is supportive of his friends, stays on task and is willing to help.


EVERLEIGH LEONARD - 7th Grade Feb. 2023 Student of the Month -- She is very bright and enjoyable to have in class. She always participates and helps her peers. She turns in quality work and is kind to her classmates.
