We were happy to welcome back Mountain State Centers for Independent Living to our school this year to speak with our students about becoming ADA advocates.
Ronda Shockley shared an important message about including all students, standing up for others, and how young people can make a real difference in their communities. She also helped students better understand the history and impact of the Americans with Disabilities Act and discussed how the law continues to evolve and shape accessibility and equity today.
We appreciate the opportunity for our students to learn how advocacy, empathy, and awareness can help create a more inclusive world for everyone. ♿💙

Last week our students participated in the fourth annual collaboration with Branches & Contact. Students learned about body safety and healthy relationships. We made a video to show the activities from the day! https://youtu.be/AhOEaEi0m_0

Our cooking club celebrated Pi day last week by cooking some pizza pies and baking some delicious desserts that they arranged in a Pi shape! We are so excited with the progress we've seen in this club already!

BMS has had a spike in interest for soccer this year, and we have been asked by several about having our own school team. We would love to give our community and student athletes another great sports opportunity. If you have a child in 5th, 6th, or 7th grade, and they are interested in soccer at Buffalo Middle next year, please fill out the form attached! Please also share this post to reach the community! https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=S7AZ4AwzekaLrgn7FzdNakXUhZ5IlZdHiCenCv8Mq_NUMzBCNUpRV0laVDdBQ0xNMkRRSlJINTRKNS4u

Applications are due back to the office by Thursday, April 2nd, which is the day before Spring Break begins!

Today is the Golden Horseshoe Test for 8th Grade. Students who do not take it today will still be required to make up the test at a later date but will not be eligible to win a Golden Horseshoe. If your student is currently absent, they can arrive by 1:30 pm today and still take the test to qualify for the competition.
Students will be bringing home information about a Buffalo shirt sale sponsored by the BMS Social Studies Team. All proceeds go towards the 2026-2027 Possum Festival! There are two designs available as well as special options for staff. Details and pricing are attached.

There’s no better way to celebrate Pi Day than with math, school spirit… and a little whipped cream! 🥧
Our Pi in the HERD Week wrapped up with a high-energy assembly where we announced competition winners, celebrated our Pi Digit champions, and crowned the winner of the Pie for the Herd Staff Showdown.
Students spent the week adopting digits of π, competing in the Herd Coin Stampede, and showing that math can be fun, competitive, and community-building.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this week a success!
Together, we are the HERD. 🦬

Tomorrow is Golden Horseshoe Test Day for our 8th grade students!
The West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Test is a statewide exam that measures students’ knowledge of West Virginia history, and it’s an exciting opportunity for them to demonstrate what they’ve learned this year.
We ask that all 8th grade students arrive on time, well-rested, and ready to do their best, as testing will begin right after breakfast.
Students who score at the top across the state earn the prestigious title of “Knight or Lady of the Golden Horseshoe,” one of the highest academic honors for middle school students in West Virginia.
Let’s wish our 8th graders the best of luck tomorrow — we’re proud of the hard work they’ve put in!
