Yesterday we celebrated the promotion of our eighth-grade students to the high school! We are definitely going to miss this group, but we are so excited to see what they do with their futures!
We had a great field day today with lots of competition, fun, laughs, cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, music, a bouncy house, and whipped cream pies. Thanks to all our staff for all their help today. It was a wonderful way to wrap-up the year before awards ceremonies tomorrow!
We are proud to announce that two of our students have been selected as regional winners in the Kids Kick Opioids contest. Congratulations to Izzy Shong & Addison Kilgore. Their work will be displayed at the state capitol in the fall!
All of our lost and found items have been washed and laid out in the cafeteria for students to look through. Please remind your students to look through this before the end of the day on Thursday!

Last night, we inducted 34 students into the National Junior Honors Society. This is a huge accomplishment that requires dedication and leadership. Our current members did a wonderful job leading the ceremony. We are looking forward to what this group (now 58 members strong) will be able to accomplish next school year!
Our Gift Basket Raffle is tomorrow on Facebook at 1 pm. Please make sure all your tickets and money are turned into the office by tomorrow morning!

Next week (May 28-31), our Student Leadership Council will be completing their May service project. For May, they have chosen to help support the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter. They have organized two activities for the week:
- Homeroom Donation Drive: Students can bring supplies that will be donated to the animal shelter. The biggest items of need are Purina dog/cat food and cleaning supplies. A full list of requested items can be found at https://hcwanimalshelter.com/support/wish-list/. The homeroom that collects the most supplies will receive a breakfast party.
- “Coins for Critters”: Student Leadership Council will host a coin collection drive during lunch. The grade that donates the most money will receive a day of double intramurals. The funds raised will be donated to the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter.
All library books must be returned no later than Monday, June 3rd! Please check with your students to make sure they do not have any books currently checked out and if they do to turn them into the library ASAP!
Our 5th six weeks incentive reward trip was yesterday! We spent the day in Charleston watching the Dirty Birds baseball game. We took 106 students, and fun was had by all! Our next incentive reward will be our countywide field day on June 4th!
